Established in 1977 Dhyana Pura Beach Resort was initially dedicated for a place to retreat body and soul as this 3,8 hectares property was the only reason people come to the area of Seminyak which at time was still a hidden paradise. Hence the street was named Jalan Dhyana Pura.

Through meditation combine with the nature healing atmosphere, people found the resort a perfect place to find their true self. Around 90 rooms were built to accommodate such activity which was mainly dedicated as contemplation place combine with a two-story hall for group meditation.

All of these were initiated by the foundation of Dhyana Pura which was established by uniting churches of Bali Christian Protestant. The place was mainly to accommodate spiritual recovery activity within the church community and it was then known worldwide through association with overseas church society.

As the world changes and the need to expand according to guest request, the foundation felt it was the time to increase number of rooms and run the resort openly as the other hotel in the neighborhood which, in the 80's, started to grow. The other 30 rooms were then added to the room inventory.

Within years of existence in hospitality industry, the resort still believes having the charm of natural contemplation place in its own way.
